It is crucial to fit your desk ergonomics to your physical needs in order to live in a pain-free workplace.
As healthcare professionals, we meet too many professionals who complain of thoracic, lower back, or hip pain that triggers numbness and tingling down the arms and/or legs. The cause of these common symptoms is often an ill-fitting ergonomic desk set up. Desk workers need to understand that a poor ergonomic workplace can lead to fatigue, discomfort and a significant loss of productivity.
The solution to pain or discomfort can be resolved by correcting the following:
1) Adjusting the angle and distance of your computer/monitor
2) Neutralizing the angle of your wrists when typing
3) Taking a break every 30 minutes
If not related to muscle imbalance, tightness, poor postural awareness and stability, increased discomfort while working at your desk is NOT normal. We, at Core Performance PT, want to equip you with the proper tools to improve your workplace and prevent medical visits.
