Dr. Elizabeth McGonagle was born and raised in Orange County with a competitive spirit in academics and athletics. In her youth, she was a leader at the distinguished Oxford Academy College Prep High School where she was able to study sports medicine while helping the school build their sports programs from the ground up. She was a competitive runner and swimmer, both pool and open water, and knows how dedicated an athlete must be. She pursued her love of sports science and medicine with a B.S. in Athletic Training at Chapman University where she was heavily involved with all sports and age groups for sports injury management, athletic movement analysis and sports specific training. After working with professional teams like the Angels, Dodgers, and Anaheim Ducks, she developed an interest in treating the aging athlete.
She went on to earn her Doctor in Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California in 2011 to gain knowledge and skills for a lifelong ability to practice and compete. She teamed up with expert biomechanists and manual therapists that propelled her quest for specialty training in the shoulder and the spine. Her specialty in joint health and manual therapy was at the year-long Orthopedic Manual Therapy course in Folsom in 2012 which focused on functional movement analysis, achieving optimal joint health and effective principles for spinal rehabilitation. She enjoys watching her patients achieve their goals and regain control of their injuries.
When Elizabeth is not in the clinic, she loves watching sports, hiking, boxing, going to the beach with her family and cooking.
